The Day camp is designed for girls who want to experience a fun social soccer environment. The girls will learn skills and be given ideas on how to practice these at home or on their own. They will have the opportunity to see Michigan college players display their skills first hand. They will be coached by current members and alumnae of the Michigan Women’s Soccer program.
The curriculum is designed to improve all the basic skills in the game such as dribbling, passing, receiving, etc . Certain advanced skill activities will be introduced as in fast footwork, 1 v 1 moves, shooting, crossing, and heading. The skills will be repeated so that they players get to practice them and really learn.
Small sided games will be a major theme of the camp. The numbers for these games range from 2 v 2’s to 5 v5’s. This is where the players will be able to get many touches on the ball while performing different games to help players better understand game situations, team tactics and decision making skills. Large sided games will be introduced at this camp. The numbers for these games range from 6 v 6’s to 9 v 9’s. Functional positions and players roles will be introduced during these segments.
